Frequently asked questions
Quality characteristics - why copper?
Copper is one of the metals with the highest heat conductivity. It is easy to process and does not cause any problems of corrosion inside the collector. Additionally copper is a very good reflector in the infrared wave range – vital for the realisation of low emission values. Last but not least: In comparison to other popular materials, copper is recyclable to almost 100 %.
Quality characteristics- why titanium?
The compounds between Titanium - Nitrogen, Oxygen and Carbon are characterised by outstanding properties due to its special thermionic configurations. They are extremely hard and resistant against highest temperatures. For this reason “Titanium-Nitride” and “Titanium-Carbide” are utilised successfully for tool-coatings. This special attribute of Titanium compounds also determine the optical properties which predistinate it as highly selective absorber material.
Quality characteristics - why quarz?
Quartz is chemically and physically extremely resistant. There is almost no acid which can solubilise quartz. It only melts at 1550°C. Furthermore it is very hard and gives therefore optimum protection against scratches. Quartz is extracted from quartz-sand which can be found on the earth in large quantities.
